OUTLINE SESSION WITH DAN 4630/MODULE 2 FOCUS ON WHAT IS ANALYSIS DOING AND MORE FORM REVIEW
Last night we had a very useful and stimulating session on Module 2 and we open the discussion on what we are doing? what we are looking at? and how we are applying into the undergoing research on our practice. Helen explained well how we need in module 2 build an understanding of different frameworks, make scratches, not trying to do a big research, not trying to define anything. What is related to critical thinking, and what is important for our research, ought to be meaningful to us and related to our practice. So we need to find out what we are proposing, what kind of theoretical approach, how we are going to get some answers about our inquiry? what framework we are using so far? to find theories that goes with the topic of research, with the core of practice... what is the best approach? we must look deeper into the own practice.
Confusion at this point is great, gives multiple perspective, keeping us in the process, we expect to be messy, it should not be all linear...We must start scratch from aols and the topis we want to explore.
Inquiry is like a home, a harbor to us. We are not here to solve the problems, we ought to thing at something we understand in part of our practice, even if is not our best shot, or discover something new on the way. But this is our practice, we must be interested in own practice.
So, each one of us must find our own thing and enjoy in creative process. We want to understand better our own practice, we should get excited otherwise it is not useful. With one research at the time we are growing and with exploring we allowing ourselves to take a pleasure in that part. Indulge in that.
The other part of the discussion was about ethics, how we should do our research, talks, interviews, surveys, appropriate methods, how we should approach. we ween through research application ethic form, through main points and clarified who are we need to stay away from the research and what groups are plausible for the research project.
I would just add few more thoughts about what am I doing...No doubt this journey on personal practice is very challenging and looks for more time and clarification on using the right theories and the framework, but that keeps me with stimulative thinking and questioning further. It is messy and sometimes i just want to quit and dance/move but the beauty of the whole process is to put that what i am doing into the framework. Slowly, but surely all valuable information started to be connected and related to each other, i am entering deeper into the body language and articulation of some thoughts through different philosophical, cultural, psychological aspects of the movement and feel a more phenomenologically wholistic sense of what i am researching regarding breath, touch, voice, music, words, movement. Still, i am in the process and challenging myself with the questions is ti what i really, need, do, want, but strongly believe i am moving from the state of paralysis into a state of engagement. My research will going to need also an ethical research with human participants via zoom, mails or in live version with non-vulnerable groups and since i live where i live for the time being i must take in consideration that this part would be very challenging and sensitive to do.
Hi Sandra,
ReplyDeleteIt's good to read where you're at. I was definitely not thinking of my own practice enough in the first few weeks and just kind of stuck. Now, like you I find myself slowly understanding to enjoy the process even if it's difficult. Stop expecting perfection and accepting that being a bit lost and messy is all part of the process. Best of luck! :)
Hi Lena, thank you for sharing your thoughts and positive vibrations. I wish a lot of patience, determination, focus and what is important trust yourself, trust the process:)
