ENTER THE FLOW/ phase 1
Introduction into the flow, phase 1.
Last night I began my practical online movement research EMBODIED FLOW IN MOTION, first phase.
At this class we made an introduction into the inner body and the Self, breath, intro into the flow motion and dancing from within. We started very slow, with micromovements and microcosmic energy, breath support and some concepts from the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System, Alexander and Feldenkrais through Improvisational tasks and mindful movement. I was searching for the quality and understanding the information I shared with the participants. We started from observing the head and the neck motion... The start is always difficult and hard to tune in into the floating zone, especially when you are dealing for the first time with yourself, a lot of time, maybe not enough space to express yourself in a way you want to, but the participants were enter the flow immediately in their own tempo according to their emotional state, space they were in, feelings, body knowledge, memory in the body and my instructions. The participants were all females, around the world, different ages very eager to tune in the flow. It was interesting to observe and later discuss about their one hour and 15 minutes journey. We explored micromovements and later developed into the exploration of dynamosphere and how very simple movement can evolve into something distinctive and profound. On this class we cultivated wisdom of movement through listening, reflecting, thinking and contemplating. I slowly add after small sessions few more effort elements such as punch and float combining with the fundamental directions of dynamic actions, using body parts (speaking directly from the bones, little finger, stomach, tendons, joints, blood cells) and later whole body to feel more integrated by using all three levels of movement, but mainly staying on one level (standing or lying position). We were just scratching the surface but still trying to go with that information into the depth as much we could...Some of them were being overwhelmed with the many information in the body, and I also counted on that challenge, some of them just find their own flow and achieve some interesting sensations, such as echo in the body, stillness, silence, resilience of the movement. Purpose of this class was very simple, to find you own flow, to introduce oneself with such a challenge, gather together, being in the presence and not trying to find any answer just many possibilities to achieve in one's body with the movement. We were working on our intrinsic dance, with the pleasure and joy in the body with the information around us and within the body, we were trying to find our best position, movement at that time of NOW. We were doing what was the best for us in that moment and that was the best part in our gathering. Moving for the dance and not to please others, this is a matter of consciousness. Next time we will go with the same flow, maybe we just scratch the surface, or maybe we enter into the phase 2. I am very grateful for this opportunity to shape this class with (non) dance and movement practitioners and professionals and this project will for sure bring a great benefits to my personal development as a dance and movement teacher, as a human being and give somatic understanding of the movement.
This quote will explain the best the fluidity and quality of the class..
